چکیده

Background: The prevalence of ESBLs-producing Escherichia coli has recently increased worldwide due to the expression ESBL genes which had led high rate multidrug resistance antibiotics. Aim: To determine antimicrobial susceptibility patterns E. isolates and evaluating carriage these at phenotypic genotypic levels. Methods: One hundred two clinical were recovered from UTI suspects analyzed for production levels using Modified Double Disc Synergy Test Polymerase Chain Reaction respectively. Results: Of 102 isolates, 100(98.04%) associated with MDR phenotypes. showed variable all antibiotics used in study. rates 99.0%, 97.1%, 88.2%, 82.4%, 81.4%, 65.7%, 54.9%, 46.1%, 23.5% ampicillin, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole, ciprofloxacin, ceftriaxone, ceftazidime, amoxicillin-clavulanate, gentamycin, cefoxitin, nitrofurantoin imipenem, was 74.5%. Based on PCR results, randomly selected 20 ESBL-positive possessed one or more ESBLs genes. CTX-M type predominant (100%), while those TEM SHV-types 85% 80% Four genotype detected (CTX-M, TEM+CTX-M, SHV+CTX-M SHV+TEM+CTX-M). SHV+TEM+CTX-M, (70%), followed by +CTX-M combination (15%). occurrences genotypes, 5% 10% Conclusion: This study found a Phenotypic (74.5%) among resistance, as (100%) SHV+TEM+CTX-M (70%).

Biofilm and Extended Spectrum Beta Lactamase Production amongst Uropathogenic Escherichia Coli Isolates at the University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Nigeria

Background and Aims: Uropathogenic Escherichia coli (UPEC) are considered major reservoir for genes encoding antimicrobial resistance. The mechanism of resistance and persistence of UPEC has been attributed to the production of biofilm and Extended Beta Lactamase (ESBL). This hospital-based prospective study determined how biofilm and ESBL production facilitate antibacterial resistance amongst ...

Phenotypic and Molecular Characterization of Extended-Spectrum Beta-Lactamase-Producing Escherichia coli in Bangladesh

BACKGROUND Resistance to cephalosporins in Enterobacteriaceae is mainly due to the production of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL). Little is known about ESBL-producing bacteria in Bangladesh. Therefore, the study presents results of phenotypic and molecular characterization of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli from hospitals in Bangladesh. METHODS A total of 339 E. coli isolated from pat...

Prevalence of extended-spectrum ß-lactamase-producing Escherichia coli in agricultural fields of Gorgan district using bovine manure

The aim of this study was to assess the prevalence of ESBL-producing E. coli in agricultural fields of Gorgan district, Golestan province. Soil samples were collected from 20 agricultural fields, half of them treated with chemical fertilizers and the rest with bovine manure. Two samples, from surface and a depth of 15cm, were taken. After enrichment and culture onto MacConkey agar, Pink colored...

Molecular characterization of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase producing Enterobacteriaceae in a Saudi Arabian tertiary hospital.

INTRODUCTION The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of extended-spectrum beta-lactamase (ESBL) producing Escherichia coli (E. coli), Klebsiella pneumoniae (K. pneumoniae), and Proteus mirabilis (P. mirabilis). In addition, different methods for detection of these enzymes, including the newly introduced CHROMagar ESBL, were evaluated. METHODOLOGY A total of 382 Enterobacteriacea...

Prevalence and molecular characterization of Extended Spectrum Beta-Lactamases (ESBLs) producing Escherichia Coli and Klebsiella Pneumoniae.

UNLABELLED The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of ESBL-producing Escherichia coli and Klebsiella pneumoniae as well as genes encoding ESBLs. MATERIAL AND METHODS A total of 1207 non-repeat isolates of E. coli and K. pneumoniae were obtained from urine, tracheal aspirate, wound swab and blood from patients hospitalized at the University Clinics in Skopje. ESBL set and E-test ...
